Riding Bikes

I'm watching the neighbors teach their kid how to ride a bike. Dad is running behind the bike as son pedals down the sidewalk, and mom is holding a camera. The kid has all the accessories including a child-sized bike helmet that still looks huge on him. It's rather heartwarming. :)

I can picture the scene now.

I can picture the scene now. I remember my first bike rides, my grandfather built me a bike from parts he found at the dump and I got my first lengthy ride at Willow River State park. Who would have thought how much the bicycle would end up playing a role in my life.

Anyway reading this entry made me think of a bike ride that still stands out in my mind from my youth. It was the middle of winter, and the water on a creek that ran through Stillwater had frozen over allowed us to ride on top of the creek. We finished the ride off by biking out to Rob's parents house near lake Mcusick. Not sure why that memory has stuck around. Oh well how's that for a random memory for the day?
